My grandparents Edmond & Murtie are the inspiration behind this brand. Every summer, our whole family would pack up and head to Ocracoke Island, NC – a tiny island…where countless memories were made. A place where the water is clear and time slows down. There, Edmond & Murtie showed us how nature and the sea nurture the soul – a truth our generation is rediscovering.

Murtie was the kind of woman who grew peonies alongside tomatoes, cucumbers, okra, and muscadine grapes—beauty and purpose growing side by side. She sewed christening outfits, let us play in the flour while making homemade biscuits, and always had her arms open. My grandfather Edmond never let her forget how loved she was; he showed up every single day with unwavering support and devotion for our family. Together, they made everyone feel welcomed the moment you walked through their door. They lived a life of simplicity, and it feels more important now than ever.

When I found myself sitting in an oncologist's office, I began questioning everything—starting with what I was putting on my skin and ending with what our ancestors knew that we have forgotten. The answer kept bringing me back to her. Back to Murtie.
